THE CAPACITY FRAMEWORK ยท JACQUE VISAGIE

I wrote this book to help you locate yourself.

Most of us keep asking, What should I do next? I think there is a more useful question to ask first:

Where am I right now?

The Capacity Framework is a map. It gives you four levels for understanding where your stability is coming from, how you are currently carrying the demands of your life, and what needs to develop before you can move forward sustainably.

The Capacity Framework by Jacque Visagie

The levels are not labels. They are locations on a map.

They do not tell you your worth, intelligence or potential. They help you see where stability is currently coming from โ€” and therefore what kind of development may actually help.

The movement is simple: external dependence โ†’ internal capacity โ†’ authorship.

THE FOUR LEVELS

Where are you right now?

Level 1 โ€” Outsourced Hope

Life feels overwhelming or depleted. Stability is something you hope will come from outside you โ€” a change in circumstances, a solution, another person, or simply relief.

Level 2 โ€” Outsourced Action

You are taking action, but the structure is still largely external: rules, plans, schedules, accountability and control. The system works because it is being held.

Level 3 โ€” Ownership & Skill

This is the major threshold. Responsibility begins to move inward. Instead of only following structure, you develop the regulation, skills and capacity to create stability yourself.

Level 4 โ€” Creation & Life Design

Capacity becomes something you can use deliberately. You are no longer only trying to cope or perform. You can direct your energy toward meaning, contribution, leadership and building a life that reflects your values.

THE CAPACITY FRAMEWORK

The level tells you where you are. The framework helps you understand what may be underneath it.

I use six areas to look at the capacity available to carry your life. They are not six separate problems. They interact with one another.

Regulation

Your ability to remain stable and respond effectively under pressure.

Recovery

Your ability to restore energy after demand.

Cognitive Load

How much complexity, decision-making and mental demand you are carrying.

Identity & Meaning

The beliefs, roles, values and sense of direction shaping your life.

Physical Systems

The physical foundations supporting energy, resilience and performance.

Emotional Processing

Your ability to process emotion rather than continually spending capacity carrying it.

WHY I WROTE THE BOOK

You do not need to judge where you are. You need to be able to see it.

That is what I wanted this book to give people: a way to locate themselves honestly, understand what their current strategies are doing for them, and see what the next level of development actually asks of them.

Before you decide what to do next, know where you are.
